Renovation
and adaptive re-use of the landmarked B. Altman department store
into a complex multi-use facility. Program elements include a three
floor research library, 400 seat auditorium, 200 seat recital hall,
black box theater, television studio complex, art galleries and
exhibition halls, dining rooms, meeting rooms, offices, and instructional
spaces for 72 separate academic/institutional entities, including
music and fine arts departments. Fast track design and construction.
Complex multiple agency (DASNY, CUNY) project with Wicks Law public
bids and over 30 bid packages in two major phases. Construction
occurred around occupied spaces. *Jacob Alspector served as Senior Associate in charge while at Gwathmey Siegel & Associates.
